Steve is Executive Chairman of The Endurance International Group. Endurance is the largest provider of online solutions to small and medium businesses. Endurance provides its more than two million subscribers with website hosting, domain names, online marketing solutions and other Internet-based applications and services. As Executive Chairman, Steve works with the management team to determine Endurance’s long-term strategy. In the most recent round of financing, Endurance was valued at over $1 billion.

Steve joined Endurance as its Chief Executive Officer in September 1999. Steve was Endurance’s fifth employee and served as CEO through 2010. As CEO, Steve assembled and led the management team that grew the company to two million paid subscribers, to over $200 million in revenue and to more than 1100 employees. Steve managed the company through three rounds of venture and private equity financing and completed 40 acquisitions. Endurance is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts with facilities in Phoenix, Arizona; Provo, Utah; Vancouver, Washington; Mangalore, India and Manila, Philippines.

Before joining Endurance, Steve served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing, Support and Product Management at Great Plains Software, the North Dakota-based provider of business management solutions. Steve spent 12 years helping to build Great Plains prior to its sale to Microsoft for $1.1 billion. Steve played a key role in leading Great Plains through a successful IPO, obtaining venture funding and directing expansion into global markets.

Steve spent four years with McKinsey & Company, in their New York and Tokyo offices.

Steve serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Principia College and on the Advisory Board of the Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School.

In 1992, Steve took a leave of absence from Great Plains to run for the United States Senate in his native state of North Dakota.
Steve holds a BA in business administration and history from Principia College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
